POSITION SUMMARY Security guards are responsible for ensuring all people and property are safe and secure, maintains order, and ensures compliance of policies and procedures. This position represents the hotel in a professional and knowledgeable manner and is able to deal with difficult people in a non-violent, patient and respectful manner. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Door Security \xc2\xb7 Control and monitor access to the bar at all entrances/exits ensuring there is no unauthorized access. \xc2\xb7 Search customers for contraband (e.g., illegal drugs, outside alcohol, weapons, etc.) using authorized equipment and safe techniques, confiscate it and store it in a safe location then report the incident to management and/or police. \xc2\xb7 Politely ask customers to leave if they are exhibiting dangerous or unruly behaviours - contact police if needed. Safety Monitoring \xc2\xb7 Conduct periodic patrols on foot to check for irregularities, developing or escalating behaviours, unsafe conditions, safety hazards, unlocked doors, security or safety violations, blocked entrances and exits, and unauthorized persons. \xc2\xb7 Cut off intoxicated people from consuming more alcohol in accordance with the Smart Choices training and call a cab if needed to get home safely. \xc2\xb7 Observe and report activities and incidents to supervisors and team members. \xc2\xb7 Protect the scene or evidence in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations. \xc2\xb7 Maintain a personal incident log and prepare incident reports for supervisors and authorities. \xc2\xb7 Respond to fires, medical and safety emergencies and call 911. Other Duties as Assigned: \xe2\x97\x8f Assist with training new employees. \xe2\x97\x8f Report any employee, customer, or neighbourhood complaints/issues to management. \xe2\x97\x8f Report any issues beyond the scope of the position to management. \xe2\x97\x8f File a written incident report within 24 hours of the event, preferably before leaving the property. \xe2\x97\x8f Contact police when someone is exhibiting unsafe behaviours and assist with incidents that took place on the property or surrounding area, and provide evidence or testimony when requested. \xe2\x97\x8f Refer any media requests or highly sensitive/confidential public inquiries to the owner. \xe2\x97\x8f Maintain confidentiality of all business operations throughout and beyond employment. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Qualifications \xc2\xb7 Manitoba Security Guard Training Program certification is required as evidenced by a valid Manitoba Security Guard license. \xc2\xb7 Smart Choices certification is required. \xc2\xb7 Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset. \xc2\xb7 CPR and First Aid Certification is an asset. Experience \xc2\xb7 Minimum 1 year experience working in a nightclub security position. \xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of security operations and procedures. \xc2\xb7 Experience dealing with difficult people in a non-violent, patient and respectful manner. \xc2\xb7 Experience deescalating highly emotional, upset or angry people - maintaining your cool at all times and while under pressure. \xc2\xb7 Experience dealing with people under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Abilities \xe2\x97\x8f Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor. \xe2\x97\x8f Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and make connections with people. \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and incident reports. \xe2\x97\x8f Critical thinking, troubleshooting and effective decision-making skills. \xe2\x97\x8f High attention to detail with strong observation and people-watching skills. \xe2\x97\x8f High degree of initiative, integrity and a strong work ethic. \xe2\x97\x8f Strong collaborative and effective teamwork skills. \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work alone and as a member of a team. \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work under pressure with difficult people or circumstances. \xe2\x97\x8f Must possess a positive attitude with a willingness to learn and implement changes. \xe2\x97\x8f Physically able to perform the duties of the position. \xe2\x97\x8f Able to stand and walk for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). \xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. \xe2\x97\x8f Punctual with an excellent attendance history and reliable transportation. \xe2\x97\x8f Must be living in Winnipeg and legally able to work in Canada. OTHER COMMENTS The Stock Exchange Hotel (aka Lipstixx Experience) is an adult entertainment facility located at 1105 Arlington Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Security guards are generally scheduled to work between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. but must be flexible and available to work other hours if needed.
