Reporting directly to the H\xc3\xb4tel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Security Supervisor, all Security Guards are required to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff and building facilities. Based on a foundation of compassion and effective communication, guards will be successful and aided in their roles through their understanding of crisis intervention techniques, proper patrol skills, reliance on technological systems alarms, CCTV, cameras, access control, emergency response preparation and effective investigation and report writing skills.
Qualifications:
1 -2 Years Security experience in a corporate environment or equivalent education - required
Providing overall assistance and support to staff, patients and vendors utilizing effective communication and compassion
Maintain familiarity and adherence to HDGH workplace policy, municipal, provincial and federal law/legislation during periods of enforcement and conflict resolution
Proactively collaborate with staff and peers to prepare and plan preventative de-escalation/crisis intervention techniques
Continually utilize excellent verbal, nonverbal and physical skills to avert injuries to self and others
Provide a crime deterrent through preventative patrol visibility
Monitor pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow for effectiveness
Monitor alarm systems for emergency response, system failure or system tampering
Gather and conduct investigations of all reported security breaches including witness observations, technical evidence and personal observations
Respond to all emergency situations as HDGH first responders
Professionally complete all required daily documentation within memo books, electronic investigative reports and daily logs as required
Liaise in a professional manner with community first responders at all relevant times
Understand and conduct oneself in alignment with the Mission, Vision and Values of HDGH
Monitor HDGH Outreach Personnel
Programming Prox Cards/PALs
All other identified responsibilities and duties as assigned
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Highly developed critical think skills, ability to conceptualize and analyse problems
Working knowledge of computers and common software (Excel/Data Entry/Word)
Working knowledge of physical protection systems - access control, CCTB, wander alarms, personal alarms. Fire alarm systems etc.
General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the positon
Demonstrated high standards of ethical conduct, honestly and integrity
Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanour at all times
Excellent communication skills with the command of the French language considered an asset.

Education and/or Certification:
Post- Secondary Education in relevant security or 2 Years relevant work experience - required
Law & Security/ Administration/Criminology/Law Enforcement - preferred
Relevant coursework in security field \xe2\x80\x93 IAHSS,IFPO,SMG, CPI - preferred
Standard First Aid/CPR-C w/AED \xe2\x80\x93 Required
CPI \xe2\x80\x93 Non Violent Crisis Intervention \xe2\x80\x93 Required
