Job Summary:

Protection Security Investigations is seeking skilled, hands-on

Loss Prevention Security Guards

for a part-time, plain-clothed role in a high-theft retail environment. This position requires discretion, vigilance, and the ability to safely apprehend individuals committing theft or mischief within the store. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in undercover loss prevention and be based in or near Hamilton.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate in plain clothes to discreetly monitor customer behavior and identify potential theft or suspicious activity. Observe, track, and apprehend shoplifters using approved Use of Force protocols when necessary. Monitor high-risk areas, particularly blind spots or poorly surveilled aisles. Liaise with store staff and management to coordinate safe apprehensions and support enforcement of trespass orders. Document incidents with detailed written reports using company reporting tools. Remain alert and proactive throughout the shift, patrolling discreetly and adapting to behavioral patterns of known offenders. De-escalate tense or confrontational situations with professionalism and authority.

Requirements:

Valid Ontario Security Guard License Use of Force Certification (including baton, handcuffing, and arrest/detainment procedures) Proven experience in retail loss prevention or high-theft security settings Strong situational awareness and conflict resolution skills Physically fit and capable of performing foot surveillance for extended periods Must demonstrate discretion, integrity, and professionalism at all times Reliable transportation and availability to work full-time hours on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous plain-clothed or undercover LP experience Familiarity with high-theft grocery environments and retail operations Local to Hamilton or within a 30-minute commute
