WE OFFER SIGNING BONUSES FOR MANY HOURLY POSITIONS THE ROLE: Maintain safe and secure environments for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. As a security guard for Backwoods, you will complete patrols and protect assigned property. You will promote and enforce safety, as our guards act as a visible deterrent against irregular activity. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients by patrolling and monitoring premises. This position requires foot patrol around a mall space
• Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect mall space, equipment, and access points
• Access Control: Permit authorized persons entry to site when required
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, inform violators of policy and procedures; restrain if necessary
• Control traffic by directing mall patrons
• Complete daily Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA’s) and Daily Occurrence Reports (DOR’s) and Incident Reports (IR’s) when required
• Maintain environment by monitoring and setting mall and equipment controls
• Arrive for your shift on time. If you know you will be unable to fulfill your duties, you must communicate with the Security Coordinator ahead of time or organize a replacement
• Able to work efficiently and effectively both as part of a team or individually on site

WHERE YOU’LL BE WORKING:

• Shifts are 9 hours a day, 5 Shifts per week. Typically in the evening
• Work indoors in a retail setting and patrol in all weather conditions when required
• Front-facing customers -professionalism and service to customers is a must. Calm demeanour is needed when necessary
• Adherence and involvement in all site loss prevention procedures and direction
• Overtime and weekend work may be required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• 6 months to 1-year experience in Security
• Experience in retail Security preferred
• BC Security Guard License, First Aid Level C, and WHMIS 2015 required for this position
• Well-groomed, customer service orientated, strong professional presence
• Objectivity, emotional control, and dependability
• Able to follow complex instructions, both written and verbal
• Knowledgeable about security operations and procedures
• Site orientations as required
