Respond to all emergency incidents, including but not limited to, building evacuations (drills and legitimate threats), medical/first aid emergencies, hazardous material events and alarms in accordance with relevant and appropriate procedures and ensure the proper Niagara Regional Staff and Facilities staff are notified as required.
Respond to calls for agitated individuals and individuals experiencing mental health crises with the ability to de-escalate and assess the needs of the individual and situation appropriately (Niagara Regional Police, EMS, Community Supports).
In the event of a fire alarm, the security guard should follow the site Fire Safety Plan.
Monitor surveillance cameras as required.
Coordinate visitor and employee identification verification.
Securely maintain access cards for staff, contractors and/or visitor passes.
Actively participate in scheduled fire alarm/evacuation drills
Provide escorts for individuals/vendors as required.
Coordinate deliveries for the building.
Maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct at all times.
Provide excellent customer service to staff and citizens of the Niagara Region at all times.
Ensure all significant occurrences are reported immediately to the appropriate site representative.
Report any damages, deficiencies or hazards immediately.
Incident reporting (includes the date, time, location, and detailed description of the Incident, including actions taken, as well as accurate and detailed Use of Force reports).
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities during HQ Council & Committee Meeting Coverage:
Enforce access control measures and public conduct guidelines.
Monitor for unauthorized recording devices and disruptive behavior.
Respond to incidents following standard and emergency procedures.
Assist with removals as directed.
Conduct final sweeps for any unattended items or security concerns.
Complete detailed notes and incident reports.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of one year of experience in a security role
Valid Ontario Security Guard License
A Valid WSIB Approved First Aid CPR - Level C
Proficient in English (both oral and written)
Vulnerable Sector Check
6 Months Customer Service Experience
Must be authorized to legally work in Canada
Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
+ Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
+ Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
