THE ROLE: We’re hiring for various casual positions for West Edmonton Mall Events and more. Event security guards for Backwoods Security Services are expected to complete patrols, protect and control assigned areas of the event space, provide world class customer experience, and ensure all event guests are safe and secure. As a member of the Backwoods Security team, safety is always a number one focus and you will be expected to ensure that all guests, staff, and Volunteers for the various events enjoy a safe and secure event. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients by patrolling and monitoring premises
• Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings, equipment, and access points
• Access Control: Permit authorized persons entry to site when required
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, inform violators of policy and procedures
• Provide traffic and parking control
• Daily security and safety reporting will be expected. All applicants must be fluent in both written and spoken English
• Ensuring that event guests, staff, and contractors abide by event policies at all times
• Ensure all event attendees are safe and secure by following emergency response plans
• Acting as a representative of all event producers with a positive and professional attitude
• Able to work efficiently and effectively both as part of a team or individually on site

WHERE YOU’LL BE WORKING:

• West Edmonton Mall, October 2022
  • Shifts are generally 12 hours per day; PT/Casual on Call scheduling
  • Overtime work may be required
  • Work in all conditions, this event goes rain or shine!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• No experience in Security is necessary, but 6 months-1 year is preferred. Event Security experience is an asset
• Must meet all Alberta Solicitor general licensing requirements for Security guards
• Additional training: First Aid/CPR/AED, AGLC Protect and AGLC Proserve preferred but not required
• Objectivity, emotional control, and dependability
• Excellent interpersonal skills and dealing with other people and the general public
• Able to follow complex instructions, both written and verbal, in English
• Able to communicate clearly to supervisors, and teammates
• Knowledgeable about security operations and procedures
• Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
• Have reliable transportation with the ability to go to different event locations
• Site orientations as needed and requested
