Location: Federal site - Coast Guard, James Bay

Reports to: Site Manager

Shifts: 15:00-23:00 and 23:00-0700 (Rotating- 5 on/3 off, 5 on/2 off)

Wage: $17.91/hr (includes 2% RRSP cash)

Position Status: Union - Public Service Alliance of Canada

Job Responsibilities

• Provide access control, ID checks and regular security foot patrols.
• Proactively respond to and resolve emergency situations and conflicts.
• Complete evacuation and emergency response procedures.
• Communicate problems or concerns to the site supervisor.
• Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Have knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
• Use a cell phone and write incident reports as needed.
• Perform all duties with high safety standards.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience

• Must be have or be able to obtain a Government of Canada level II (Secret) security clearance
• Must have a valid BC Security License
• Must be physically fit and able to walk patrols.
• Must be able to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
• Must be fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
• Must have a positive attitude with a professional demeanour, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Have excellent attention to detail and incident report writing skills.
• Have excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
• Have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
• Have a demonstrated interest and experience in serving the public.

• Candidates will be eligible for the $1500 signing bonus provided they are working a minimum of 32 hours per week for 9 months

*Candidates will be eligible for the $750 signing bonus provided they are working a minimum of 20 hours per week for 6 months
