Security Analyst II

Salary Scale: CG-42 ($73,418.80 - $86,504.60)
Closing Date: April 26, 2023 About Us At the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (the Centre) we provide quality information to health professionals, the public, researchers, and health system decision makers. Through collaboration with the health system, we support the development of data and technical standards, maintain key health databases, carry out analytics and evaluation and support health research. We support the regional health authorities, as well as the patients and communities they serve, in the delivery of information technology and telecommunications (IT/T) and eHealth services applied in the healthcare system to provide quality care. Our mandate also includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians. About the Role We are currently looking to hire a permanent full time Security Analyst II to work in the Information Protection Division. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead event and incident investigation activities for the Centre\'s security program.
  • Conduct Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs), including execution of Vulnerability Assessments (VAs) and penetration testing on Provincial health systems.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple functional IT teams to design and implement security controls and systems.
  • Provision of security advice and guidance to IT staff, management, and partners.
  • Participate in audit initiatives.
  • Lead the definition and execution of security initiatives.
  • Research and evaluate industry best practice security controls, approaches, and methodologies for implementation consideration.
  • Participate in technical security planning activities.
About You Your education and experience include:
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or a related IT field.
  • A minimum of 5 years\' experience working in the field of cyber security.
  • Recognized certification(s) in the field of cyber security.
You have the following skills and abilities:
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical know-how to perform at a senior cybersecurity role.
  • Motivated individual who can keep current with new technologies.
  • Superior interpersonal skills (written and verbal communication).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective business working relationships.
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of judgement.
  • Ability to function in a high pressure, diverse, and changing environment.
  • Strong awareness of privacy, security, and confidentiality.
It would be an asset if you have:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the sensitivity of health data.
  • Previous experience or experience with TRAs/VAs/Penetration Testing.
  • Knowledge and exposure to privacy concepts and practices.
  • Exposure and experience with Cloud security.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information. Security Manager (CISM) or other security designations.
