Our Team

Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Operational Services department is responsible for providing a broad range of services such as material movement, security, catering, power, air transportation, facility management, people movement and contract management.

The Opportunity

Vale recognizes the Impacts and Benefits Agreements with the Innu Nation and the Nunatsiavut Government in which Innu and Inuit workers have first preference for employment at the Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Mine Site. This is guided by an adjacency principle that first gives preference to those who live on the coast of Labrador, followed by those residing in the rest of Labrador, those residing on the island of the province, followed by the rest of Canada.

Next, priority will be given to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. We also welcome those who are willing to relocate back home and those looking to make NL their permanent home.

We are currently seeking a Security Advisor to join our Operational Services department in St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, NL. This permanent position will be based in the St. John\xe2\x80\x99s office on a Monday through Friday schedule.

The Security Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all employees, contractors or visitors to VNL\xe2\x80\x99s facilities and the security of facilities and assets.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Compile data and analyze results of audits, inspections, daily logs and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities and measure program effectiveness.
• Complete regular audits of the security contractor and security systems to identify areas for improvement.
• Establish Preventative Maintenance routines for the hardware including establishing contracts with OEM\xe2\x80\x99s as needed.
• As contract manager for security, ensure security contractor adheres to terms of contract including scope of work and appropriate billing practices.
• Prepare budgets and capital projects to support security functions.
• Determine the appropriate level of security for each individual facility.
• Implement site and facility access protocols by working with respected operations teams.
• Work with IT and engineering to develop capital projects to perform upgrades where identified.
• Work with Bus contractor to establish site access and manifest protocols for Long Harbour scheduled bus service.

About You

Education:

• A degree or diploma in a related field.
• Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) is preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of 8 years\xe2\x80\x99 in a similar role.

Skills:

• Strong Communication Skills
• Proven experience with entire Contract administration cycle of contracts in excess of $1M million. understanding of key controls and processes.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and SAP experience is an asset.
• Ability to multitask, change priorities, problem solve, and resolve conflict.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team of people to effectively manage assigned accountabilities.
