Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.



Position Overview


Reporting to the Manager of Patient Care, Pain Clinic, the incumbent is responsible for the effective, efficient provision of secretarial support of the Pain Clinic. Duties include:
  • Developing and maintaining database information on patients, clinic activities; maintaining departmental records and files.
  • Scheduling patient appointments; preparing patient records for use (sorting requisitions, obtaining test results and assembling appropriate pages as required).
  • Requesting, obtaining, and tracking charts from Health Information Services.
  • Acting as receptionist for the area; receiving incoming telephone calls, taking and relaying messages, greeting and directing visitors and patients, etc.
  • Coordinating the staff schedule for the Pain Clinic.
  • Assisting with the preparation of patients for examination as required.
  • Managing non-insured patient processes.


Experience


  • A minimum of two (2) years previous related experience required.
  • Recent experience in Ambulatory Care required.
  • Experience with literature searches preferred.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining databases using or a comparable database program, required.


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)


  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards.
  • Successful completion of a recognized secretarial training program required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills


  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Typing 50 wpm required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • Dictaphone and Medical Terminology (75% pass mark) required.
  • Admission, Transfer, Discharge (ATD) and Automated Ambulatory Care Scheduling (MSI) Systems, EPR, EMR (Accuro) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently.

  • Must be able to function in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions.
