This temporary position
consists of 3 blocks of French 8, 1 block of IB French 11, and 3 blocks
of Learning Resource. Students will range from emerging learners to those
who are highly motivated and capable learners. The successful candidate
for this position must have current academic and professional preparation as
well as teaching experience in French and Learning Resource at the secondary
grade levels. The successful candidate will have a passion for bringing
language learning to life for students. Strong collaboration and teamwork
skills and a willingness to work closely with other colleagues in the Modern
Languages department and the IB Diploma Programme are required. A commitment to using the specific International
Baccalaureate Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL),
including curriculum, teaching and assessment expectations is required .
Responsibilities are
multi-faceted and include:
working with students who have mild to moderate learning challenges and with students who have a Ministry Designation;
assessing students' learning needs using a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to provide appropriate remediation;
collaborating with and support teachers as they adapt and modify the curriculum;
providing individual and small group instruction outside of the classroom or within the classroom setting;
writing and implementing student Individual Educational Plans (IEPs);
working on the School Based Team; and
communicating effectively with families and school and district staff.
The successful candidate
will have a demonstrated ability to connect with and adapt learning experiences
for students from diverse backgrounds and with a wide variety of learning needs
and styles. Recent work experience must reflect a commitment to
collaboration and teamwork and a willingness to work closely in a professional
and supportive environment with Modern Languages and Resource department
members.
This position is temporary contract and posted as UTR (or until teacher returns).
Richmond
Secondary School is a comprehensive 8-12 school that operates on a Day 1/Day 2
linear timetable. We strive to do our best by creating an inclusive
learning community through supporting and caring for one another. Our
focus is on supporting the diverse learning needs and backgrounds of students
in our school while building and fostering a connected community. Staff
work collaboratively and professionally to support growth by developing and
supporting individual, departmental, and school goals.
The successful candidate for this position must be a qualified secondary teacher with current academic and professional preparation as well as teaching experience in these subjects and grade levels in the the French Immersion programme. All candidates must be certified by the BC Ministry of Education - Teacher Regulation Branch.
