Job Summary:


The 2nd Cook will work closely with the Chefs and other kitchen staff to prepare and present high-quality food in accordance with the Postmark Hotel's standards. This role requires a strong understanding of culinary techniques, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:


Assist the Chefs and other senior cooks in all aspects of food preparation and cooking. Prepare and cook various food items, including meats, vegetables, sauces, and desserts, according to recipes and quality standards. Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a timely and aesthetically pleasing manner. Maintain a clean and organized work station, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines. Monitor inventory and communicate any shortages to the Chefs. Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries. Contribute to menu development and special events as required. Adhere to all hotel policies and procedures. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications:


Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a 2nd Cook or similar role in a reputable restaurant or hotel. Culinary diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution is preferred. Proven knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP). Must possess a valid Food Handler's Certificate. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. A positive attitude and a passion for culinary excellence. Must have legal authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship.
