The Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen's is one of Canada's first full service, privatized convention and event facilities located in the heart of downtown Hamilton. It is the largest event venue in the City of Hamilton capable of producing exceptional events. Job Types: part-time, permanent, flexible

Wages: $22+ /hr

THE SECOND COOK AT THE HAMILTON CONVENTION CENTRE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

• Work in team oriented environment with a group of culinary professionals
• Exercise their knowledge of cooking, food handling and culinary standards
• Demonstrate their creativity in hands-on work environment
• Ensure food quality by maintaining high levels of cleanliness, organization, storage and sanitation
• Exercise good judgment and demonstrate leadership abilities
• Ensure orders are prepared in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Carmen's Group standards, focusing on minimizing waste and overall presentation
• Assure the proper care and maintenance of all food service equipment
• Opportunity for professional growth within the company
• Perform opening and closing duties as needed
• Maintain clean and safe work areas utensils and kitchen equipment as needed
• Make a difference in the lives of each and every one of our guests by directly contributing to their extraordinary experiences

SECOND COOK POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive knowledge of cooking, food handling and sanitation standards
• Extensive knowledge in practicing leadership in a high stress environment
• 3-5 years' experience working on-line/in the kitchen preparing all menus using variety of kitchen equipment
• Well-developed knife skills and different food preparation techniques
• Extensive knowledge in sauces and dressing making
• Strong ability to follow and create recipes
• Willingness to learn and improve
• Respectful mannerism
• Required to work well with senior cooks/sous chef/executive chef
• Positive, outgoing and friendly team player
• Exceptional problem solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Safe Food Handlers Certificate a requirement
• Culinary trade papers or Red Seal considered an asset
• Driver's license a requirement for off-site catering
