This position is located at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton, Ontario.

Hours of work

- You must be available to work days and afternoon shifts ( 7AM - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm) And work 2 to 3 weekends per month

The incumbent will:

Prepare safe, nutritious, and palatable food for residents and outreach clients as per menu and special catering requests Follow established menus, recipes and production sheets to organize, plan and coordinate food requirements for daily meals Maintain proper portion control of all panned food items Document and maintain an adequate freezer inventory to ensure proper rotation of food and to assist with the ordering of food and supplies Document the temperatures of fridges and freezers Clean and sanitize all works areas, including equipment and utensils to ensure a safe work environment for staff and residents

The successful applicant will possess:

Completion of an approved Culinary Management Diploma or a Journeyman's Cook's Certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience A valid/approved Food Safety Certificate obtained within the past 5 years Several years previous quantity cooking experience, preferably in a long term care setting Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with relevant legislation, standard and best practices in areas of food preparation, safe food handling, workplace safety and long term care Working knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel) Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated customer service and problem solving abilities Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task The ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the position

Second Cook Salary Information

- The hourly rate range for this position is $30.05 to $31.15.

Conditions of Employment

The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Additionally, tuberculosis screening will be required in accordance with the FLTC Act (O.Reg. 246/22). Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected. Finally, compliance with the Mask Fit Testing Program is required and will be coordinated as part of the orientation process.
