Reporting to the Seawater Director, the Seawater Area Manager is responsible for managing, mentoring and coordinating the site managers on the sea sites. This role requires the majority of time to be spent on the sea sites every week to keep a close eye on how the seawater production is going and identify where attention and efficiencies need to be made. Leading by example, the Seawater Area Manager will help support all operations on the farm and be a link between farm staff and other divisions in the department (for example operations, OHS, etc).

Key Responsibilities
Manage and mentor the site managers to help meet key KPIs for the assigned area.
Train site staff on operational activities
Work alongside site workers to perform daily activities on sites, including but not limited to site checks, mortality removal, environmental monitoring, etc.
Compare budget with actuals for all sites, and assist with month end duties.
Help sites schedule and perform preventative maintenance for site equipment, including barges.
Design and implement budget for sites in area and monitor actuals against budget.
Work with Seawater Director to come up with key goals and objectives for the coming year. Critically analyze the previous year's objectives and determine any major wins or losses for the department. In terms of losses, identify core reasons for the miss and how improvements could be made for the following year.
Follow safe working practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Other appropriate duties as required by the Seawater Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to assess feed- and growth-based KPIs (FCR, SGR, etc)
Good mentoring/management skills

Practical experience with fish husbandry
Technical knowledge and ability with lice tarp treatments

Training, Education, and Experience
Any level of formal Aquaculture program through a post-secondary institution preferred or five (5) years experience working in the Aquaculture industry at a Site Manager level or higher
A valid driver's license is required for this role
Ability to use software including Fish Talk, Aquacom, Site Docs and MS Suites

The schedule is five (5) and two (2), Monday through Friday.
The Seawater Area Manager position is located in Marystown, NL, with frequent travel to assigned sea site area.
