About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager of Assistive Technology, the Seating and Mobility Leader\'s primary objective is to support provision of seating and mobility services throughout the Zone by providing mentorship, education, resource, and practice support for Nova Scotia Health staff involved in the provision of seating and mobility services.

Provincially, the Seating and Mobility Leader acts as a champion and expert resource to promote the provision of high quality, person-centered care seating services; throughout the continuum of care. The Seating and Mobility Leader collaborates with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, related to seating and mobility. The Seating and Mobility Leader carries a clinical caseload of patients requiring complex, custom and/or specialized seating needs that cannot be met through other seating services. Under the direction of the Program Manager - Assistive Technology, the Seating and Mobility Leader coordinates and supports the operations of the Wheelchair Shop and advises on best practices, product and market changes and capital purchase investments in Seating and Mobility. A considerable amount of flexibility and agility is required in the provision of key work activities as the Seating and Mobility Leader shifts activities to meet changing and competing priorities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered in Good Standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience required
  • Previous clinical experience in the provision of complex/specialty Seating and Mobility services, required
  • Comprehensive understanding of best practices in Seating and Mobility Services
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Understanding of and commitment to the protection of Personal Health Information

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$37.33 - $45.46 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
