About the Role
As a Grain Cleaning Operator, you will be responsible for handling and cleaning grain throughout our facility. Key objectives include:
Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
Operating equipment diligently and taking samples accurately
Completing work orders and related documentation
Keeping facilities clean, efficient, and well-maintained
Providing excellent customer service
Supporting positive working relationships within the team
Arriving on time and prepared for your shift
Working a variety of shifts independently to operate the facility
We condition
approximately 750,000 bushels of grain annually
, ranging from common to registered varieties, as well as commercial separations. This is a
hands-on role
requiring attentiveness, self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and strong mechanical aptitude.
Work Schedule
This is a
casual
role, with the expectation of maintaining a 40-hour work week throughout the season, with some overtime. Reasonable allowances are made for time off, as well as potential shutdowns for extreme weather or equipment breakdowns. Accommodations to this schedule may be made for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and best practices
Maintain clean, efficient, and well-maintained facilities, including shovelling grain/snow and cleaning office and equipment areas
Receive grain deliveries by truck, including weighing, documentation, and binning
Sample grain and assist in quality assessment
Bin and transfer grain as required
Complete work orders and documentation (paper-based and digital)
Operate grain cleaning equipment and monitor quality
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and assist in larger repairs as required
Qualifications
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and self-motivate
Reliable transportation to the site; must reside within 75 km of Willingdon, AB
Ability to read and write English fluently to complete documentation and follow instructions.
Assets (not required, but beneficial):
Knowledge of grain grading and cleaner operations
Familiarity with grain-handling equipment and processes
Elevator or terminal experience
General knowledge of the agriculture industry
Computer skills
