Band 3 - $73,958

Term position starting October 20, 2025 - mid/late April 2026

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Airfield Services, the Seasonal Groundside Maintenance Specialist maintains and repairs all groundside operation surfaces. This role assists in providing a safe environment for our aircraft, the travelling public and cargo at our 24-hour operation. This seasonal role is to maintain the groundside area during the winter season. The terms will be in effect from which may be extended by mutual consent based on operational requirements.



Responsibilities include:



Operate front end loaders, trucks, skid steers and tailgate sanders to ensure our campus roadways and parking lots are free of snow and debris Monitor and eliminate excessive ice buildup on our groundside area to keep surfaces in safe usable conditions Service and maintain all equipment including running maintenance, minor repairs, and cleaning Install, maintain, and remove snow fencing Coordinate pavement and signage repair Maintain the twenty-four-hour operation Other duties related to groundside maintenance including landscaping until snowfall

Selection Criteria include:



Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent Valid Class 3 driver's license with Air Brake endorsement required (Class 1 license is an asset) and a clean driver's abstract Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Radio/Telephone License Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Vehicle Operator Permit "D/A" (AVOP) Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) Minimum of two winters' experience operating heavy and/or medium equipment Demonstrated knowledge in operating winter and summer maintenance equipment (airport-specific equipment experience is an asset) Ability to assess and evaluate equipment operational condition and perform minor maintenance Knowledge of airport operations considered an asset Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures Physically capable of manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, shoveling snow and gravel as required Effective oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment Proven reliability with consistent attendance Excellent time management skills, with ability to prioritize and multitask effectively Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications; able to prepare basic reports Willingness to work shift work in a 24/7 operational environment Arborist Certification, Pesticide Applicators Certificate, or landscaping experience considered assets
