Job Description

The Town of Coaldale is seeking a enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our Parks team for the summer season. Reporting to the Parks Foreman, the Assistant Pesticide Applicator is responsible for weed and pest control in the Town's green spaces, pathways, gardens, shrub beds, and Cemetery.

Term: May- August
Wage: $25.81 per hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and maintain equipment for chemical application, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, weeding, and pest control.
• Perform tasks related to chemical application, pest control, target organism scouting, reporting and record-keeping, urban forestry maintenance, and garden/shrub bed weeding.
• Adhere to the Town of Coaldale's Integrated Pest Management Program.
• Follow all health and safety protocols as outlined by the Town of Coaldale's Safety Program.
• Maintain proper communication with the Foreman or Lead Hand regarding incidents or concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Pesticide Authorized Assistant Applicator Certificate for the Province of Alberta
• Physically capable of performing job requirements, including lifting equipment and tools up to 50 lbs.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license (driver's abstract required for preferred candidates).
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including potential weekend shifts.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with staff and the public.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
• Experience in turf maintenance and forestry is an asset.
• Ability to focus on repetitive tasks for extended periods while remaining adaptable to changing priorities.

• Ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Town of Coaldale policies, as well as the law as set forth by Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Act.
