SDS/2 Drafting & Structural Modeler

to join our dynamic engineering and detailing team.

Position Overview

The SDS/2 Drafting & Structural Modeler will be responsible for creating accurate 3D structural steel models, generating shop drawings, and collaborating closely with project managers, fabricators, and engineers to ensure seamless project delivery. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a technical, fast-paced environment and are enthusiastic about contributing to a forward-thinking fabrication team.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed 3D models of structural steel using

SDS/2

software. Generate accurate shop drawings, erection drawings, and CNC data. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to resolve design issues. Review design drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes. Perform clash detection and model validation prior to fabrication. Update models and drawings throughout project lifecycle to reflect changes or revisions. Assist in streamlining modeling processes and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience

in SDS/2 structural drafting or equivalent detailing/modeling background. Solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Strong attention to detail and commitment to modeling accuracy. Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities. Experience in a fabrication shop or construction environment is a plus. Knowledge of AISC standards and industry codes preferred.
