About Radius Community Health & Healing (formerly Boyle McCauley Health Centre)
Radius Community Health & Healing provides interdisciplinary, team based, integrated, comprehensive, and person-centered primary health care for vulnerable Edmontonians with complex needs. Through primary care and health promotion, Radius Community Health & Healing improves the quality of life and well-being of populations and individuals who face multiple barriers to accessing health services. Within Radius Community Health & Healing, the SCS (Supervised Consumption Service) is part of a range of evidence-based services that support prevention, harm reduction and treatment for Albertans living with substance use. The SCS provides a place where people can use drugs in a monitored, hygienic environment to reduce harm from substance use while offering wrap-around services such as counselling, social work and referrals to housing and treatment (e.g., opioid-dependency treatment, detox) and works collaboratively with the rest of Radius to provide individualized services to meet service user's needs.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, and working alongside Radius' Medical Director and Clinic Manager, the SCS Team Lead will manage the Radius Safe Consumption Site as well as related off-site programs. The SCS Team Lead oversees a dynamic team-based health care system of licensed practical nurses, medical office assistants, health advocates, psychologists, outreach workers, nurse practitioners, physicians, and others. The SCS Team Lead supports the mission and values of Radius Community Health & Healing and provides leadership and mentorship to the entire team on delivering compassionate, non- judgmental, and trauma-informed care.
This position is temporary, to cover a Mat leave for an estimated 12-18 months.
Key Responsibilities
Lead an interdisciplinary team to provide health and social supports within a Community Health organization.
Demonstrate a commitment to best practice and evidence-based care
Oversee day-to-day operations of the SCS and related offsite programs, which includes:
+ Patient relations
+ Staff hiring, training, scheduling, employee relations, performance management, and other human resource related functions
+ Inventory and supply management
+ Compliance to IP&C and OH&S standards Operations and planning of programs and services in compliance with Provincial and Federal Legislation and requirements
Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to represent Radius Community Health & Healing in relevant settings
Support collection and reporting of clinic-based data as required
Contribute to program planning and evaluation
Mentor and coach team members to improve skills, capacity, and leadership ability
Oversee the performance and job duties of a diverse set of healthcare professionals.
Other duties as necessary or assigned to ensure efficient and effective site operations.
Ensure program specific Policies and Procedures are up to date and in compliance with Provincial and Federal Legislation and requirements
Engage with community residents, business owners and organizations related to the services of the SCS
Qualifications
Degree in a health profession, preferably nursing
Current registration in respective profession (e.g., CARNA)
Current CPR
Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check
5 years relevant experience in a community health centre or primary care clinic.
Experience with marginalized populations (e.g., homeless serving sector, social service agencies)
Minimum 2 years experience with management and people leadership
Non-violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset
Knowledge/Skills
Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team
Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding for those with addictions and behavioral disorders
Strong computer proficiency, experience with MedAccess EMR an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to operate with a trauma-informed approach
Excellent understanding of cultural awareness an asset
Ability to apply principles of Harm Reduction
