Job Description

Candidate profile details:

  • Degree/Certifications Required: Post secondary education, Certified Scrum Master and/or Certified Scrum Master in scaled Agile framework (e.g., SAFE)
  • Years of Overall Experience: 5-7 years
  • Preferred Candidate Background: Databases and data warehouse knowledge - flow of data - curation, ingestion, consumption
  • How will performance be measured: hitting deadlines, their ability to communicate affectively with pods and leadership, reporting metrics (keeping everyone in the loop)
  • Selling Points of Position (CVP): new part of the bank, utilizing TDSA which is brand new, data as a service, be apart of forming and shaping the direction TDSA is going to go, long-term opportunity
Summary of day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Owns championing of agile practices and ceremonies
  • Provides advice and guidance to the agile team (e.g., pod), as required, regarding best practices in agile / the client Scaled Agile methodology
  • Ensures team adheres to 'Work In Progress Limits' established by the Product Owner, making sure the team is not working on too many stories/tasks at once, and helps them get into a flow of starting and completing work in a predictable manner
  • Encourages the Team to look for opportunities to support each other (e.g., focus on higher priority Stories that team members are struggling with)
  • Ensures a collaborative culture exists within the Team, promotes team building and ensures team engagement
  • Coordinates and facilitates ceremony logistics and ensures all Agile ceremonies/processes are held and all team members are present and on time in particular, the daily stand-up meeting
  • Ensures engagement of appropriate control partners
  • Works across the agile team (e.g., pod) to ensure required assessments, and information are accurate and update to date
  • Adheres to enterprise frameworks and methodologies that relate to activities for our business area
  • Ensures respective policies/practices are well executed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external
  • requirements, and aligns with business priorities
  • Facilitates work execution that is aligned to established cost, timing, deliverable and scope objectives
  • Adheres to enterprise governance to ensure that deliverables meet all the performance, quality and compliance standards and follow the approved methodology
  • Works directly with key stakeholders to remove impediments and help manage cross- team dependencies
  • Collaborates with Product Owner(s), Technology Lead(s) and Team(s) on Sprint planning, impediment removal, and Team execution
  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • Protects the interests of the organization - identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions
  • Participates fully as a member of the agile team (e.g., Product Group, Product Family), supports a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Provides thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for agile execution and participates in capability building for the team and business unit
  • Keeps current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, and agile related tools / techniques
  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team
  • Keeps others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of committed work and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
  • Contributes to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices.
  • Leads, motivates and develops relationships with internal and external Agile teams to develop productive working relationships
  • Contributes to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce
  • Expert Scrum Master capable of supporting complex pods/agile teams (1-2 pods/agile teams), incl non standard pods/Agile teams e.g. Strategic & innovative, Release & Deployment, Transformation Office, Agile Release Train etc.; as well as Pods that are large, operate with many dependencies, interact with large number of high value stakeholders, Mobilization new pods from T-Date to Sprint Start etc.
  • In depth knowledge / expertise in own domain / field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas and supporting a small team of professionals assigned to agile teams
  • Requires in depth understanding of the TDSA processes, procedures and systems
  • Can transition to Agile Coach II coaching role with appropriate training
  • Interprets internal and external business issues and recommends best practices
  • Helps resolve complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
  • Proficient at operating in a scaled environment
  • Continues role as Scrum Master while taking on additional responsibilities within the agile community (e.g. Community of Interest, Practice Excellence, Talent Acceleration etc.); or split their capacity between operating as a scrum master in NEW and performing any number of the following:
o Expand and sustain A@S Practice PI initiatives
o Execute practice simulations cohorts
o Facilitate training sessions
o Acts as an agile champion within the organization, shaping agile practices within their respective function
o Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
o Proactive and autonomous seeking guidance in only the most complex situations
o Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among and across agile teams and ensures the timely communicatio n of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams
o Support an environment where team freely escalates challenges; facilitate change through positive reinforcement of successes
o Generally reports to Practice Lead and contributes directly to assigned Journey or Platform
o Postsecondary education
o Certified Scrum Master and/or Certified Scrum Master in scaled Agile framework (e.g., SAFE)
o 7+ years of Scrum Master experience, preferably with 2+ in a scaled environment
o Prefers 7- 10 years of Agile experience
Must-Have Hard Skills:
  • 5-7 years of Scrum Master experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a scaled environment (scale agile)
  • 7-10 years of experience within Agile
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or Certified Scrum Master in scaled Agile framework (e.g., SAFE)
  • Experience working within Jira and confluence
