Position Summary & Duties

The Kirsch laboratory at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre ( ) is seeking an early to mid-career scientist to join our lab using genetically engineered mice and human cell lines to study cancer. The successful candidate will be a qualified scientist with a PhD, with postdoctoral experience and demonstrated research excellence including publications related to cancer biology and/or genetically engineered mouse models. Experience with genetically engineered mouse models is not required, but will be considered to be an asset.

  • The successful applicant will lead independent research projects in cancer and/or radiation biology.
  • The successful applicant will work closely with Professor David Kirsch to provide mentorship to graduate students, oversight for grant expenditures, and write drafts of progress reports for external grants.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a PhD degree preferably in Cancer Research and/or Genetically Engineered Mouse Models
  • Eight (8) years or more related research experience
  • Postdoctoral experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience contributing to progress reports and/or applications for external grants desired
  • Ability to produce high quality work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently, but also function as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to lead self and peers by conduct and example
  • Ability to supervise laboratory activities and assigned personnel including graduate students
