Job Summary

This position provides a variety of front line customer services: issues supplies and equipment from stock including high pressure gas cylinders and liquid cryogen tanks; determines price and delivery information and places orders for stock and non-stock items; receives and checks incoming shipments and returns unsatisfactory goods; handles and inventories stock materials including hazardous goods; processes invoices and cost recoveries; maintains records of issues, receipts, orders, payments, completes data entry of transaction details into an inventory system; ensures all safety standards are met. Performs other duties similar in scope and complexity.

Job Requirements

Skills:

This position requires:

• A good knowledge of scientific supplies, chemicals, equipment and hazardous materials.
• High motivation and organized with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize a heavy and varied workload while maintaining attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Strength and stamina are required for lifting and moving of materials and equipment.

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

• Knowledge of WHMIS and TDG regulations preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a laboratory environment and/or customer service experience is an asset.
