Pharma Technical Development & Research

We are looking for an experienced software engineer/developer to join our team to help support further development of a customized solution. This role is for 1 FTE. Candidates will be ideally located by our client tech hub in Mississauga to best support global meetings across time zones. (remote from Canada is possible)

Background:

SPAM is a web-based platform that leverages high performance computing clusters to translate antibody sequences into structures and analyze their intrinsic and developability characteristics using state-of-the-art computational and biomolecular modeling approaches. Current functionalities include building homology model structures from an input sequence, interactive molecular visualizations, electrostatic and hydrophobic surface map calculations and visualizations, and predictions of chemical and physical instabilities.

The successful candidate will:

Be technically opinionated, with demonstrated adherence to best practices in software engineering including appropriate use of abstraction, testing, usability, and version control to create sustainable and reusable software. Collaboratively and pragmatically solve scientific software engineering challenges encountered at the forefront of quantifying test article effects. Collaborate with local and off-shore engineering teams to support your software development efforts.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

BS or higher in bioinformatics, computer science or related field. 5+ years experience developing tools for data analysis. Seniority of position will depend on experience and other factors. Python (Flask/Django) Frontend development (JavaScript, React) REST and GraphQL API experience Source code management RDBMS/NoSQL (Postgres, MongoDB) GCP AWS Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Experience supporting data science activities using FAIR data management and reproducible practices. Biological domain knowledge and basic data analysis skills are desirable but not required. Ability to work iteratively and according to agile methodologies
