Schools Plus Lead
Regular Full Time Non-Union Position
Location: Cobequid and Nova Family of Schools
12 Months/Year
Competition # 23-06-01 Reporting to the Coordinator of Student Services, the SchoolsPlus Lead provides direction, supervision, and support to the extended SchoolsPlus team, working to ensure a high level of service is provided to students in need. The SchoolsPlus Lead will demonstrate a strong commitment to the school and system improvement process in support of student well-being and achievement. The role involves working collaboratively to problem solve and mobilize appropriate resources within the community, networking and advocating for SchoolsPlus services, monitoring the progress of students served, and assessing the ongoing development and success of SchoolsPlus. Qualifications / Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years\' experience providing programming and services for students in need;
  • Career experience in providing integrated programming and services to children, youth and families, and related community networking;
  • Leadership experience in the delivery of programs and/or services involving the planning, budgeting and supervision of staff.
  • Although a Master of Social Work degree is not required, it will be considered an asset
Competencies Required The SchoolsPlus Lead demonstrates the following competencies:
  • The ability to provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team in support of student success;
  • A demonstrated knowledge of collaborative practices, including negotiation and mediation in working with students, educators, parents/guardians, community agencies and government departments;
  • The ability to engage in shared decision making and problem solving;
  • The ability to apply knowledge and experience in service delivery and development;
  • Applied knowledge of family systems and the role of families in supporting development and educational progress of students with diverse needs;
  • The ability to develop budgets and supervise funding utilization to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources;
  • The ability to apply performance evaluation strategies and methods to support the annual employee review process;
  • The ability to maintain and promote a high standard of ethical practice;
  • A demonstrated ability to engage and work with diverse communities;
  • The ability to establish proactive relationships with families and community agencies in order to support student success;
  • The ability to connect to Early Years partners in school and community, recognizing the importance of the Early Years program;
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively within the Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education, with students, parents/guardians, community members and external groups such as government agencies;
  • The ability to apply knowledge, experience and commitment in the areas of race relations, cross cultural understanding, human rights and diversity;
  • The desire and ability to engage in continuing education and professional development;
  • The ability to maintain and promote confidentiality.
