Brentwood College School is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and equity-driven School Counsellor (RCC, CCC, or RSW) to support the mental health and well-being of our students in a co-educational boarding school environment.
You'll be a core member of our Wellness Team--providing direct support to students, collaborating with staff, and leading proactive, campus-wide initiatives focused on inclusion, wellness, and student empowerment. Your experience working with adolescents, deep understanding of mental health, and commitment to restorative and culturally responsive practices will help us create a safe and caring community for every student.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of School - Campus Life, you'll play a vital role in supporting individual students, guiding peer-led wellness programming, sponsoring student affinity groups, and contributing to Brentwood's broader commitment to health, equity, and belonging.
Your Opportunity:
This is a permanent position starting August 2025. This is a full-time, 12-month a year position, working Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend hours required to support student needs and school programming. While the school is not in session, time is allocated for planning, professional development, and program development. The
salary range is $70,000 to $100,000
, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Your Experience and Qualifications:
Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work
Current registration as an RCC (BCACC), CCC (CCPA), or RSW (BCCSW)
Experience supporting youth in a counselling or educational setting
Experience working in school, boarding, or youth-focused organizations
Familiarity with restorative justice, peer support, and culturally responsive practice
An education degree or BC Teaching Certificate is an asset
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop and deliver school-wide wellness programming on mental health, relationships, and digital well-being
Provide short-term, confidential counselling to students experiencing stress, anxiety, identity development, or interpersonal issues
Lead risk assessments, crisis interventions, and referrals to external supports
Provide leadership for the B-Well group and offer support to other peer mentorship and student advocacy groups such as OMNI, BEAT, and the Women's Society
Collaborate with the Student Support Team to monitor student wellness and coordinate care
Support restorative approaches to conflict, bullying, and community accountability
Liaise with families, caregivers, and external professionals with discretion and care
