We are seeking a dedicated School Bus Mechanic to join our team in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for ensuring the safety and reliability of transportation for students. Bilingual abilities in Spanish and English are highly valued to effectively communicate with diverse staff and community members. Responsibilities



Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on school buses to ensure compliance with safety standards. Diagnose mechanical issues accurately and efficiently, utilizing appropriate tools and techniques. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Communicate effectively with drivers, school staff, and other team members regarding vehicle status and repair needs. Ensure all buses are clean, safe, and operational before dispatching for daily routes. Assist in training new staff or interns on mechanical procedures and safety protocols as needed. Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations related to vehicle maintenance and operation.

Experience



Proven experience with mechanical repairs, preferably on commercial vehicles such as buses or trucks. Knowledge of automotive systems including brakes, engines, transmissions, and electrical components. Experience working with children or in environments involving senior care is advantageous. Multilingual skills in Spanish and English enhance communication within diverse teams. Customer service experience is beneficial for interacting professionally with drivers, staff, and the community. Prior experience in commercial driving or teaching roles can provide valuable skills applicable to this position. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for accurate record keeping and team collaboration. This role is vital in ensuring the safe operation of our school transportation services while fostering a positive environment for students and staff alike.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week

Work Location: In person
