Responsibilities

Scheduling & Contract Specialist

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world seeks a Scheduling & Contract Specialist for our office in Toronto, Ontario, located in Mississauga. ALPA represents more than 77,000 pilots at 43 airlines in Canada and the United States. Under general supervision and within the limitations of Association policy, the Scheduling & Contract Specialist works closely with MEC officers, representatives, committee volunteers, and staff colleagues to assist the Air Canada pilot group with crew scheduling concerns, compliance with the collective agreement, and overall support, including assisting the Scheduling Committee in the monthly scheduling process and responding to queries via e-mail and, when the matter is immediate and time-sensitive, direct contact with the pilot.

Travel: 5 \xe2\x80\x93 15%.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or Dipl\xc3\xb4me d\'\xc3\x89tudes Secondaires (DES) required; Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in relevant area or related field, from an accredited college or university preferred; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Knowledge of pilot scheduling and work rules preferred.
  • Understanding of current Air Canada or other Canadian pilot collective agreement(s) and airline practices preferred.
  • Five (5) years of equivalent aviation experience required, ten (10) or more years strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) preferred.
  • Labour law experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with internal staff, external contacts, and pilots.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and to be proactive in identifying and responding to issues and problems.
  • Software: Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required; SharePoint preferred.

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position, move about the office and the local metropolitan area, determine what others have said or written, and converse with others and exchange accurate information.

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel (locally and nationally). Also includes occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). While on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)

POSITION SUMMARY:
