ABOUT THE ROLE
The
Scale Operator
is responsible for directing inbound trucks to satisfy customer commitments and for scaling/ticketing these trucks when they leave our site.
The Scale Operator works in a fast paced environment and must be accurate and detail oriented. This individual must be an excellent team player and utilize their strong organization and communication skills to coordinate trucks, work with dispatch and ensure deliveries are "On-Time, In-Full, Hassle Free".
Familiarity with order taking, scaling, truck configurations and aggregate products will be considered an asset. The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment along with proficiency in MS Office is essential.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Weigh trucks and ticket outbound sales
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with office personnel
Assists customers in identifying needed product and amount
Establish win-win relationships with haulers to provide best transportation services
Maintain order entry systems and procedures to provide effective communication with customers and Amrize employees
Ensure all work areas, including scale house, are clean, tidy and organized at all times
Trains and coaches other employees
Performs other duties as time permits or as assigned
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Work Experience:
Previous scale or order-taking experience preferred
Required Training/Certifications:
Valid driver license required (Amrize locations are difficult by public transport for early morning start)
Required Technical Skills:
Good computer skills required (Microsoft and Google office basic knowledge - Excel, Word, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
Travel Requirements:
Travel is required between Amrize sites within the greater Calgary Area
Additional Requirements:
Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
Willing to work overtime, evenings and weekends as needed
Must have access to reliable means of transportation (most sites are remote/not accessible from public transport)
Knowledge of products and industry terminology considered an asset
Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
Good communication skills - verbal and listening
Detail-oriented and a team-player
Positive, courteous, and helpful approach
Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
