Position Title: SAP iXp Intern - Event and Project Management

Location: Vancouver, BC

Expected Start Date: Mid-August or September 2023

Contract Duration: 8 months

Work Hours: 40 hours per week

The SAP d-com team is responsible for organizing the largest internal events in the company with a target audience of over 50,000 people across more than 21 locations around the world. Through our global and local kickoff events, we drive engagement and a sense of excitement, purpose, and connection to our product strategy throughout our engineering and development community. In this role, you will be a member of the global SAP d-com PMO assisting the leads directly in a variety of tasks related to these events. You\'ll get to see firsthand how our global kickoff events are planned and executed from start to finish and have the chance to work with people from different locations, roles, and workstreams.

This role is an excellent opportunity for gaining experience in project management as you will be assisting the leads in running team meetings, developing and tracking project plans and milestones, driving risk management across the entire project team, and preparing reports.

In addition to your primary responsibilities in the PMO, we have some flexibility to offer different experiences and tasks depending on your personal development goals and strengths and what the project workstreams need in terms of support at different phases of our planning.

For example:
  • If you are a strong communicator with great writing skills, you could contribute to the communications workstream.
  • If you are technically savvy and are curious about creating interactive virtual platform experiences and improving team processes, you could get involved with the platform and tools workstream.
  • If getting insights from data and creating beautiful reports are what float your boat, you could assist the global leads in producing leadership updates.
  • And if people engagement and interactions are what gets you up in the morning and you are full of fun ideas - we could use your help in the enagement workstream.
What you bring

We\'re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

Above all else, we need someone who is creative and passionate about helping us create a truly engaging, satisfying, and memorable experience for our engineering and development community!

Educational requirements: Student currently enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year at an accredited university studying in the areas of Commerce/Business Administration, Communications, or other Arts programs.

Desired skills / experience to be successful in this role:
  • Some event and/or project management experience, whether at work or with school/club activities
  • Excellent time management
  • Well organized and able to complete tasks on time with little or no supervision, but not afraid to ask questions or ask for help
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving and the resourcefulness to research and learn things independently
  • Cannot be shy - able to facilitate meetings with confidence (or, you really want to develop this ability and are ready to jump in!)
  • Highly adaptable and can quickly switch gears when needed
  • Good at teamwork, openly sharing ideas, and collaborating with others
  • Software and tools:
  • Proficient working with standard Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Experienced in scheduling and running meetings on virtual platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom
  • Experience with other virtual conference platforms and spaces are not required but definitely a bonus
  • Some experience working with Microsoft SharePoint, Project, and Power Automate - or else you are technically savvy enough to learn these independently within a short time
  • Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud, Mural, and Microsoft Power Apps would be a bonus
  • Graphic design and video skills are not required but nice to have
Meet your team

Our team is split mostly between Canada and Germany but there are also colleagues in Bulgaria and other countries, which makes it an interesting environment if you\'re curious about working in a global team. We are a relaxed team where everyone works hard and pitches in to help one another, but we also like to have fun!
