Overview:
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the plant's sanitation program to ensure consistent and effective cleaning practices that support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This role provides direction and oversight to the sanitation team, ensuring adherence to GMPs, cleaning schedules, and internal standards. The supervisor will also collaborate closely with QA, maintenance, and production teams to maintain a clean and audit-ready environment at all times.

Responsibilities

Lead, schedule, and supervise all sanitation team members to ensure timely and effective execution of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements.

Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and all regulatory sanitation standards. Conduct routine verifications and internal inspections.

Maintain sanitation logs, records, and documentation required for audits and regulatory bodies (e.g., CFIA, SQF). Act as pest control leader for the site and corporate offices. Primary site contact for the sanitation solutions experts to partner on continuous improvement in sanitation tools and methods

Troubleshoot and resolve sanitation-related issues; act as the key contact for sanitation-related escalations. Partner with Quality on the EMP program driving sanitary improvements across the site

Lead the development and maintenance of the best approach SOPs for sanitation.
Train and coach sanitation staff on procedures, chemical handling, safety, and equipment usage.

Partner with Engineering for consultation of sanitary design on all plant projects. Liaise with external contractors on specialized periodic cleaning (overheads, bulk tanks etc). Support cross-functional teams during audit preparation, internal assessments, and corrective actions.

Manage all sanitation related tools, chemicals, equipment ensuring 5S and leadership in equipment and tool storage. Collaborate with maintenance to coordinate proper sanitation of equipment post-repairs or servicing.

Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to hygiene, efficiency, and team effectiveness.
Recipe for Success:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing sanitation or a related field
Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and food safety regulations
Supervisory or leadership experience in a sanitation or operations environment
Ability to interpret cleaning procedures, sanitation documentation, and regulatory requirements
Strong organizational and communication skills
Comfortable working flexible hours or shifts as needed to support plant operations
Experience with sanitation chemicals, CIP/COP processes, and allergen management preferred
