Salt Truck Operators to join our team this winter. As a snow plow operator your duties will include:
The reality is that it won't always be easy; with long hours and undesirable weather conditions, the snow season can be tough. You will be working with a team of passionate and dedicated team members who will support you in a challenging yet rewarding job.
Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently operate commercial vehicles and specialized salting or brining equipment, following all recommended operating procedures.
Load and calibrate spreading equipment to ensure accurate and appropriate application rates of salt and de-icing materials based on site conditions and client specifications.
Conduct thorough pre-shift inspections and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment, reporting any mechanical issues promptly to management.
Diligently maintain a clean and safe work environment, taking proactive measures to protect existing landscape and property from damage during operations.
Maintain 24/7 on-call availability throughout the entire winter season (including weekends and holidays).
Be prepared to respond to dispatch calls with a maximum one-hour arrival notice.
Report for all shifts fit for duty, strictly adhering to company policy regarding impairment from drugs, alcohol, or medications.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all federal, provincial, and local transportation laws and health & safety regulations.
Attend all mandatory safety meetings and complete required health and safety training.
Complete and submit all required documentation accurately and promptly, including pre-shift inspection reports, service checklists, and time-sheets.
Politely and courteously communicate with customers and site personnel as required.
Document and immediately report any site obstacles, hazards, or property damage observed at client locations.
Participate in post-event and end-of-season debriefings, contributing operational findings to support continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Valid G-class Driver's License and a Clean Driving Abstract
Must possess reliable personal transportation to and from the dispatch site, which is not accessible by public transit.
Minimum one (1) year of verifiable experience operating small to medium-sized commercial trucks
Required to work non-traditional hours, including extended and overnight shifts, immediately following the start of a snow event.
Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding work and sustain extended work periods during peak snow events.
Must own and utilize a functional mobile phone for mandatory dispatch and safety communications.
Proven ability to work safely and effectively both independently and as a productive team member.
Demonstrates strong motivation, dedication, and commitment to safe and efficient work practices.
Must be physically capable of heavy labor, including lifting and maneuvering equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
