First off, thank you for your interest in this position!
The Compactor
is a dumpster compaction service. We are a small and effective team with a sole focus on customer satisfaction and amazing results.
We are currently running in Ottawa/Gatineau and are now expanding to Vancouver.
Before you contact us for this position, make sure that you meet all min. requirements (below).
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
Alexandre Guay
Owner/Operator
The Compactor
is a revolutionary waste management service that uses specialized trucks to compact/crush the contents of roll-off dumpsters. By doing this, clients gain more use out of their dumpster and the number of hauls to the dump are reduced. This helps organizations cut costs and provides a greener approach to current waste management solutions. It also helps keep more trucks off the road, so it has the environmental aspect as well.
As mentioned, we are currently operating in Ottawa/Gatineau. We have been here since March 2025 and are currently working with over 150 companies across the region. There are hundreds of these trucks already in the USA, with numbers growing each day. This is a proven model.
Important facets of this position:
Sales and Relationships - This is the first item on the list, that's because doing it is a major part of this position. You are someone that is good at face-to-face time with clients. Later on when the client-base is established, there will be less sales to your role, but there will always be relationships.
Driver - You need to be comfortable driving a 26ft, 10 500kg commercial truck that has air-brakes. This means you have to drive safely, but also you have to be efficient. Injuries, damage, and inefficiency are not our friends.
Mechanics - You should know enough about mechanical issues to want/be able to resolve small issues on-the-fly and notice/report bigger ones (for us to fix).
Who we are looking for a driver that:
Is eager, resourceful, self-motivated, and organized. We plan on talking to each and every single business in Vancouver about this (the ones who use roll-offs anyway), it's no small task. We did it in Ottawa and it was a great approach.
Finds and manages new business: there are dumpsters everywhere, go and get new business!
Discusses the benefits of service with clients, and gets them on-board;
Has a pleasant demeanour and gives clients the top-notch service we are known for;
Is comfortable using technology and apps like Jobber, Pipedrive, and others;
Takes good care of our equipment.
Your day-to-day:
Doing a daily inspection of the Truck and Compactor, filling out the report, and communicating with us any defects (the trucks are new but that doesn't mean there won't be issues);
Running scheduled routes and compactions (more details on what this means later). Photos and details have to be uploaded to our system for every job. You are expected to try to rebook clients when possible.
Always looking-out for new business opportunities. They are everywhere! Once you see new opportunities, you will knock on the door, discuss with the decision-maker (or employee) and try to get paid services on-the-fly (bonuses offered for this - see below). At the least, the decision-maker's or the employee's information should be added to our system, and our office will take over for the bookings and follow-ups.
Communicating with us throughout the day, whether it's about completed bookings, general updates, issues with clients or equipment, fun chatter(!!), and so on. It's a very dynamic business and market, we have to communicate a lot at all times of the day.
Details:
Full-time employment;
Start date TBD but could be as early as next week;
Starting base salary TBD based on skills and experience. Bonuses possible as mentioned above. I'm happy to pay well if you are worth it - we like hard-working, eager people;
Commission structure, let's discuss this. Eventual profit share, let's discuss this also;
Possibility of becoming territory manager as things expand and grow. We are based in Ottawa, so getting that key person as territory manager out in Vancouver is important to us;
Early morning start times (7am or so) and late end times (6pm or so) are a possibility, depending on clients' needs, although this seems to be very rare (neither of these times have happened yet). Most days are 8am-4pm or so. Weekend bookings do happen, a premium is paid if you work weekends;
If applicable, we may close the business entirely starting Dec 24th and reopening Jan 5th.
Minimum requirements:
You've gone on our website and you understand the business and like the concept. If you don't see the vision, this won't work out, let's not bother;
Class 5 BC driver's license with valid air-brake endorsement (if you don't have this, we can look at courses together);
Clean driving record;
Ability to hold good conversations in English.
Other factors that will help you land this position:
3yrs+ driving commercial trucks;
Speaking other language(s) will definitely be an asset to you in this application.
Thanks!
