Position Overview
The Sales & Marketing Associate is responsible for supporting the sales team in driving revenue and increasing market share for our diverse range of high-quality produce. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, customer-oriented, and highly motivated to learn the nuances of the fresh produce industry. This role offers direct exposure to both suppliers and buyers, providing a solid foundation for a rewarding career in wholesale produce sales and marketing. Ideal candidate is recently graduated from a post-secondary program.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers, including retailers, wholesalers, and distributors.
- Actively seek out new sales opportunities by identifying potential clients through research, networking, and cold calling.
- Provide product information, pricing, and availability updates to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate order processing, logistics, and delivery with the operations team to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and seasonal produce availability to provide insights and recommendations to the sales team.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings as required to promote our products and services.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities, and pipeline status in the company's CRM system.
- Resolve customer issues or concerns promptly, escalating complex matters to the appropriate team members when necessary.
- Support marketing initiatives such as promotional campaigns, sampling programs, and social media outreach.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; recent post-secondary education in business (sales and marketing specialization), agriculture, food science, or related field preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with a diverse customer base.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the capacity to learn CRM software quickly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn about the produce industry.
- Fluency in English required, knowledge of Spanish or French an asset
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in warehouse or cooler environments when needed.
-Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally and nationally as required.

Typical Day in the Role
Your day as a Sales & Marketing Associate is both varied and engaging. You might begin your morning by reviewing orders from the previous day, checking for any updates on produce availability or prices. After touching base with the operations team, you'll reach out to existing customers to confirm their needs, answer questions, and suggest seasonal specials. By midday, you could be researching local distributors or retailers who may benefit from partnering with our company, followed by sending emails or making introductory calls.
Afternoons may be spent accompanying a senior sales associate to a customer site or attending a trade show. Between meetings, you'll update records in the CRM system, ensure that deliveries are scheduled on time, and collaborate with team members to solve any logistical hiccups. Throughout the day, you'll soak up knowledge about the world of produce--seasonal cycles, quality indicators, and customer preferences--building a toolkit for long-term success.

Annual compensation
Based on experience, the base salary range is $37,500 - $50,000 per year. This position also has commission and bonus potential.
