Summary
The Sales Manager reports to the General Sales Manager. They are responsible for building and supporting a team of Sales professionals to achieve sales and revenue growth and provide a high standard of customer service. This individual will plan, organize, direct, mentor and evaluate sales staff, ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures, and provide staff with up to date marketing and promotional information. The Sales Manager is responsible for developing a passionate, customer-focused sales team that achieves repeat business through the development of strong relationships and by regularly exceeding customer expectations.
Job Duties
The MAJOR TASKS are listed below, but the incumbent may be assigned to other duties.
Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of the New and Pre-Owned automotive Sales personnel.
Develop and implement monthly promotional strategies.
Provide Sales Representatives with up-to-date product information.
Plan and implement sales-incentive programs.
Address customer inquiries and complaints.
Encourage the development of lasting client-dealership relationships.
Provide expert sales and negotiation support to all Sales Representatives.
Assist junior sales staff with negotiation, closing of deals.
Encourage a high level of extended warranty and other protection and accessory plans.
Liaise with other departments to help facilitate sales.
Determine staffing requirements and hire or oversee hiring of staff.
Create and maintain a high level of morale and enthusiasm
Set and manage the achievement of monthly team and individual sales targets.
Build and retain an effective team of Sales Professionals by providing coaching and mentoring.
Set sales expectations for each of Downey Auto Group's sales representatives including customer expectations, as well as quota achievement.
Measure the activities of each sales representative to assure that their marketing activities will produce intended sales production.
Implement and execute the company's marketing strategy and business plans.
Complete monthly formal reports of Sales team performance.
Assist with vehicle inventory management
Requirements
Must be provide and maintain a valid drivers license, drivers abstract and cleared criminal background check
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a sales management position , preferably in automotive sales.
Experience using PBS an asset
Proven sales abilities.
A passion for customer service and Automobiles.
Experience in sales management and particularly with staff motivation and development an asset.
Leadership ability and team building skills.
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and customers.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Productivity Suite.
Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc
Working Conditions
Must maintain all required Operational Health & Safety certifications and must ensure a safe workplace.
Operation of desktop computer and peripherals.
Comfortable with compensation based on commission sales.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Interacts with public at large.
Must be able to sit, walk, bend, twist and stand for long periods of time, frequently and without restriction.
