Custom Energized Air is growing! We have an immediate need for a Sales Engineer for the Edmonton Office.
As a Sales Engineer, your expertise in engineering-driven technical sales, client relationship building, and problem-solving will play a key role in driving our company's success. You will act as a technical liaison between our company and our clients, responsible for understanding complex customer requirements, delivering tailored engineered solutions, and ensuring satisfaction throughout every interaction.
The Sales Engineer will work collaboratively with other CEA team members to ensure appropriate management, or support of, the full scope of work from customer inquiry to delivery and service.
The job description and key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Customer/Vendor Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers/vendors to understand their needs, provide exceptional service, and ensure long-term satisfaction.
Provide Stakeholders (Customers, Vendors, Management, Internal Teams, etc.) with accurate, knowledgeable information within your scope.
Provide customers with accurate information concerning represented products and their suitability for customer application.
Encourage and participate in "lessons learned' sessions as required to ensure understanding, proper corrective action, and to mitigate future risks.
Responsible for accurately conveying customer requirements to all personnel involved with project tendering and day-to-day RFQs, including other CEA staff and subcontractors.
Ensure customer order requirements are effectively communicated to functional departments and vendors.
Collaborate with team members as required to ensure appropriate expectations, deliverables, and communications.

Technical Expertise:
Assess equipment condition, prepare customer report to provide technical recommendations.
Application Engineering consisting of component and material selection.
Compressed air system design.
Failure investigation and root cause analysis with technical recommendations to prevent occurrence.
Sales Strategy Execution:
Develop a business plan and sales strategy that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets, identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling, and close deals efficiently in assigned territory.
Strive to meet and exceed sales goals through prospecting, qualifying, and securing business opportunities.
Identify new projects and leads by developing and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders (end users, engineering firms, contractors).
Maintain and seek out opportunities to expand business with current customers.
Work with peer Outside Sales Representatives to identify and develop business opportunities and marketing strategies for existing/new markets.
Maintain project pursuit, customer database, quotation tracking, and follow-up procedures within the framework of CEA's Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Other Responsibilities and Requirements
You will be required to maintain necessary certifications and meet OHS requirements to gain access to Vendor or Customer sites. Support on site troubleshooting, start-up, and commissioning as required.
Physical Requirements - Prolonged periods sitting in front of a computer, driving to customer sites/locations. Required to where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
Environment - A combination of office, remote, vendor and customer service sites (may require Personal Protective Equipment.
Travel Expectation - Occasional travel. Current territory is primarily Edmonton and surrounding area
Experience and Education Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering is required. A diploma in a related technical field combined with relevant experience may also be considered.
Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in industrial or engineered equipment sectors.
Experience with centrifugal compressors or related centrifugal equipment is required.
Experience with blowers, turbomachinery, reciprocating and rotary screw compressors preferred.
Rotating equipment or millwright experience is considered an asset..
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in English is required. Fluency in additional languages is considered an asset.
Strong understanding of compressed air technology, with a focus on air compressor applications, sales and technical aptitude. Familiarity with centrifugal compressor systems and their applications is required.

Strong communication skills; verbal communication, legible penmanship, and coherent writing and notes (in software).
