Role Summary

The Sales Engineer is responsible for coordinating and reviewing all incoming requests for prototype and production quotations set out in the Company\'s Business Operation Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine total tooling and piece costs by using required quote model.
  • Ensure piece price and tooling breakdowns are accurately generated based on Rollstamp\'s cost factors and that these breakdowns are applied to quote opportunities for which Rollstamp is process-capable with a view to winning business, maximizing sales, and achieving divisional and departmental goals as outlined in Rollstamp\'s Annual Business Plan.
  • Determine sufficient packaging requirements and cost per piece.
  • Prepare quotations based on available press and/or line capacity.
  • Review Rollstamp\'s long-range capacity report and, if required, determine capital expenditures on a per quote basis, and submit appropriately for quote capital submission.
  • Prepare quote capital submission for review/approval from Finance.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications.
  • Work with required personnel from multiple disciplines/departments for the process flow, material requirements, tooling line ups and forward alternatives, if applicable.
  • Fill out the Supplier Request for Quotation forms and send out accordingly.
  • Follow up with suppliers and liaise with appropriate personnel for on-time quote completion.

  • Prepare presentation material for Sales meetings and participate in Customer meetings to substantiate quote assumptions and content.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest available processes, materials, tooling and in-house production processes.
  • Liaise with Purchasing in order to develop/expand existing supplier base to meet the requirements for a minimum of three competitive quotes on every commodity.
  • Prepare and maintain financial tracking documentation on existing booked business, including open commercial issues, contribution margin analysis and tooling trackers.
  • Maintain and respond to Customer capacity database and volume studies including any financial impacts.
  • Review programs on a regular basis to ensure current costs and volume variances, program extensions, tooling refurbishment or other financial issues are addressed with the Customer.
  • Forward cost savings proposals on existing and new potential programs as realized or necessary.
  • Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities, VA/VE process.
  • Ensure compliance to QMS (TS16949). EMS (ISO14001) and security (PIP) requirements. Ensure compliance to IATF 16949 Requirements, EMS (ISO14001) and security (PIP) requirements.
  • Ensure the cooperation of other Rollstamp departments and Corporate that the Division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customers rating for satisfaction.
  • Ensure enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements and Quality Management System (TS16949) without compromising either Rollstamp or its Customers.

  • Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills and/or certification.
  • May be required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature.
  • Comply with Section 28 of the OHSA.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations as outlined in the Rollstamp Employee Handbook.
  • Comply with all Rollstamp IATF 16949 policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all Rollstamp ISO14001 policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all applicable Business Operating Systems Procedures.
  • Any other reasonable request made by Management.
Key Qualifications/Requirements

Educational Requirements: Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in a related field, Engineering preferred.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of quoting experience, preferably in rolling, stamping, extrusion, injection moulding and fabrication process, preferably in the automotive industry

Key Qualifications/Requirements cont\'d

Computer Skills: Sound computer skills, includes knowledge of software in current use; strong ability in word processing and spreadsheet software.

Communication Skills: Well developed communication (written and verbal), organizational, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.

Additional Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Strong technical background.
  • Solid time management skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with personnel in varied functional roles.
  • Basic knowledge of Rollstamp\'s products and processes an asset.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing asset.
