THE OPPORTUNITY

Western Forest Products has an exciting opportunity for a Sales & Customer Service Intern to join our Vancouver Corporate office for either a 4 or 8-month term, starting in September 2023.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do: The Sales & Customer Service Intern ensures the highest quality customer service and accuracy in order entry and fulfillment. As a liaison between Sales, Logistics, Finance, Supply Control and Manufacturing, the Sales & Customer Service Intern ensures that customer orders are entered accurately and communicated to divisions to ensure timely fulfilment. The Sales & Customer Service Intern will be a critical component of ensuring WFP meets its \xe2\x80\x9ccustomer promise\xe2\x80\x9d, which is executing flawlessly on delivery of orders on time and on spec as requested, with excellent service through the entire customer experience at WFP.

Who You Are: You\'re currently enrolled in a Wood Processing Program (or similar) and/or a post-secondary degree in Wood Science, Business or a related subject. If you\xe2\x80\x99re a curious learner and a solid team player, interested in data and analytics, with well-versed computer skills and basic understanding of workplace safety, we would love to have you! Bonus points for a desire to work in the forest products industry and previous experience in wood products manufacturing.

Work Environment: This role is to be performed in person at our Vancouver office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  • Providing timely customer service support to external customers \xe2\x80\x93 answering queries, investigating and resolving issues related to orders and shipping, as well as organizing customer visits where required;
  • Providing support to Sales Managers and Sales Representatives, including order entry, analysis and building presentation and materials to support customer meetings, or sales strategy development and execution;
  • Primary liaison between Logistics, Supply Control and Manufacturing to ensure customer orders are fulfilled;
  • Liaising with Export Agents and Customers to provide issue resolution and shipping status and support;
  • Liaising with the Credit Department regarding credit issues (late payments, GST/PST issues, credit limit issues) and developing credit reports
  • Provide Sales Managers and Sales Representatives with information related to inventory, in order to achieve maximum shipping volumes;
  • Monitoring, processing and shipping of Outside Purchases and be the main point of contact for related issues and queries;
  • Coding of invoices in APFlo as needed;
  • Put together market analysis reports for regions and/or potential new product lines, and;
  • Other sales & customer service related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a Wood Processing Program (or similar) and/or post-secondary degree in Business, Wood Science or related subject;
  • Excellent computer skills, with a particular emphasis on Excel, Access and other MS Office environment.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic, databases and sawmill specific systems (LISA, Lumber Track, etc) will also be helpful.
  • Previous wood products manufacturing experience is preferred but not required
