Caversham Booksellers, North America\'s largest mental health bookstore, is looking for up to two full or part time retail associates with what it takes to work as part of a close-knit team. This position is for someone who enjoys customer service, both in store as well as on the phone and by email.
Our sales are in-store, by phone, online and at workshops & conferences presented outside the store. There are quiet times and fast-paced times with lots of shipping and receiving, phone calls, labelling, shelving and packing. We need people who are comfortable lifting boxes of up to 20 kg and standing for long periods.
You\'ll need excellent communication and customer service skills. You are positive, energetic and take initiative. The work is always a bit different from day to day and we need adaptability, attention to detail and accuracy, computer skills and basic math. A successful candidate will need to be organized and be able to stay focused on tasks with minimal supervision. An understanding of online research methods is an asset.
Applicants should be available for shifts on weekdays and weekends during our normal business hours of Monday to Saturday, 9-6 and Sunday 12-5. Previous experience in retail stores, libraries and/or publishing would be an asset. Because of the time it takes to learn all the different aspects of the job, we would prefer someone who is available to stay for at least a year. New hires start at $18.00 /hr.
As we frequently set up booths all over the GTA and beyond, a G-class driver\'s licence would be a major asset however, a vehicle is not required.
Requirements: Computer skills, online research methods, basic math, lifting (up to 20kg), customer service.
