Job Description

The Sales Associate will provide service to customers, sort incoming products and assists the store supervisor in the maintenance of all store operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serving customers and using cash register including taking responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions; answering telephone
• Handling merchandise as directed by the store supervisor
• Rotating store stock; replacing old stock with new stock
• Ensuring store is well stocked at all times
• Sorting and pricing store merchandise; taking priced items to sale area
• Assisting in keeping store tidy and clean at all times
• Keeping window display updated
• Preparing garbage for pick-up
• Accepting ?drop-offs? of merchandise
• Keeping stock room organized
• Vacuuming and mopping floors and cleaning shelves
• Helping with deposit at the end of the day
• Assisting with Family Services as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

TERM: Regular full-time; 35 hours per week; benefits available after completing three months of employment

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Have the ability to work within a Christian faith-based setting and uphold the mission, vision and values of The Salvation Army
• Have completed High School
• Have experience in the retail sector; preferred but not essential
• Be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
• Have physical effort/dexterity for continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, and kneeling
• Obtain a Criminal Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and clearance through The Salvation Army Internal Abuse Registry and be willing to sign The Salvation Army Code of Conduct Receipt & Acknowledgement Form
