The Safety & Quality Control Officer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining safety and quality control policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. The role will communicate with staff and assist with developing the most effective training programs while accomplishing business objectives. This role will work on-site in Emerson, Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the Company's HACCP certification which includes documents and procedures and internal audits

Perform product testing, including mycotoxin testing as required

Liaise with customers and external agencies for audits as required

Organize and implement training including WHMIS and HACCP, workshops and activities for all staff

Keep abreast of training trends, development and best practices as it relates to HACCP or related information

Develop and execute a health and safety program according to legal guidelines

Identify and conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention

Respond to, investigate, and follow-up with occupational health or safety related concerns ensuring all necessary paperwork is complete

Collaborate with management to identify company training needs

Adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws to remain HACCP and CFIA compliant

Deliver flexible support to interdepartmental functions, fulfilling tasks as assigned by leadership to drive team success

Other tasks and duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Hands-on experience in quality assurance/control or safety roles, especially in manufacturing setting is an asset

Knowledge of Quality Control principles

Knowledge of industry-specific safety and quality regulations including HACCP

Strong leadership to lead safety initiatives and collaborate with teams

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Self-motivated attitude and able to work well within a small team

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Meticulous attention to detail
