Heavy Construction Safety Association of Saskatchewan (HCSAS) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Program Consultant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in the heavy construction industry. The candidate must have experience in course facilitation, safety program auditing (COR) and the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020.
General Responsibilities
Course Instruction: Facilitate and lead safety-related courses offered by the association.
Safety Program Auditing: Perform audits of safety programs and offer actionable recommendations for improvement.
Consulting and Problem-Solving: Deliver consulting services and develop practical solutions to address safety-related challenges.
Promotion of Services: Represent the association professionally and proactively, advocating for its programs and courses.
Member Support: Provide resources, guidance, and expertise to members, including assistance with inspections and investigations upon request.
Communication and Member Engagement: Actively engage members by highlighting the benefits of developing and implementing effective Health & Safety Programs.
Continuous Professional Development: Pursue ongoing training and education to enhance expertise in safety management.
Skills & Experience
Conduct COR/SECOR audits and enter information into software.
Conduct site inspections when invited and report findings to both the company and the program coordinator.
Consult with members on building safety programs and make tailored recommendations.
Lead or participate in workgroups to complete projects as required.
Meet targets related to audits, site visits, surcharged visits, and time-loss visits.
Prepare training materials and ensure training rooms are adequately supplied.
Schedule courses and audits in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.
Track personal hours, mileage, and expenses and complete monthly reports.
Travel throughout the province to engage with members.
Visit members to build and maintain strong relationships, promoting a culture of Health & Safety wherever possible.
Work with and support other staff in audits and training activities.
Assist in the development of staff and co-instruct courses when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Training & Qualifications
Valid class 5 Saskatchewan driver's license.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Experience in the heavy civil industry preferred.
Familiarity with HCSAS training content and the safety/heavy construction industry.
Knowledge of HCSAS training courses and the heavy construction industry.
NCSO certification or the ability to obtain certification in a timely manner.
