Position Overview
The
Safety & Operations Specialist
plays a key role in supporting the safety, compliance, and efficiency of our day-to-day operations. This position focuses on ensuring a safe and well-coordinated work environment for our op`s team in Edmonton and Calgary
While this role includes
dispatch support
, the
primary responsibility
is to oversee safety programs, operational reporting, and compliance tracking in partnership with the Operations and Leadership Teams.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance (Primary Focus)
Coordinate and support all elements of 310-DUMP's
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE)
program.
Prepare and facilitate
safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training sessions
.
Maintain detailed records for safety inspections, driver abstracts, vehicle certifications, and incident investigations.
Conduct routine
yard, equipment, and vehicle inspections
to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
Assist with
incident reporting and root cause investigations
, including follow-up actions and documentation.
Support preparation for
COR audits
, external inspections, and compliance reviews.
Promote proactive reporting of hazards, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
Operations Reporting & Efficiency
Gather, track, and analyze
key operational and safety metrics
, including on-time performance, downtime, equipment utilization, and incident frequency.
Generate regular
operations dashboards and safety reports
for management review.
Dispatch & Coordination (Secondary Support)
Provide
dispatch coverage
during peak hours, absences, or as needed.
Monitor daily route progress and communicate with drivers and customer service to resolve scheduling issues.
Support accuracy and timeliness of dispatch data and trip documentation.

Experience preparing reports, maintaining safety records, and supporting field operations.
Strong computer literacy: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and experience with GPS/telematics or dispatch software.
Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
Valid
Class 5 driver's licence
(Class 3 or higher an asset).
Preferred Assets
COR / SECOR experience or training
First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, or H2S Alive certifications
Experience in waste & recycling or commercial fleet environments
Familiarity with safety data collection and KPI dashboards
This position requires frequent driving using their own vehicle. Must have a valid license, vehicle and clean driving record.*
