Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive
Site Safety Officer / Quality Inspector
to join our team. This is a
field-focused role
responsible for monitoring safety standards and ensuring construction quality across all Vasto job sites. Working closely with project managers, superintendents, and trades, you will help maintain compliance with
WorkSafeBC regulations, building codes, and company policies
while fostering a strong culture of safety and excellence.
This role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while providing guidance and leadership to on-site teams.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight
Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and company safety protocols.
Lead and document
toolbox talks, safety meetings, and emergency drills
.
Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure workers and subcontractors follow safe work practices and use PPE correctly.
Maintain up-to-date safety documentation, including inspection reports, hazard assessments, and incident logs.
Quality Control
Inspect ongoing construction work to ensure it aligns with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Verify materials, methods, and workmanship meet required performance levels.
Support site teams in implementing corrective measures when deficiencies are identified.
Monitor and document progress to ensure compliance with client expectations and building codes.
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with Site Superintendents and Project Managers to address safety and quality concerns.
Communicate findings clearly and professionally with both field staff and management.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in safety culture and construction quality.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in
construction safety, site inspection, or quality assurance
.
Strong knowledge of
WorkSafeBC regulations, safety standards, and building codes
.
Certification in
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), COR/SECOR auditor, or equivalent
is an asset.
Familiarity with quality assurance/control methods and construction inspection processes.
Excellent communication, reporting, and leadership skills.
Ability to travel between multiple job sites across the Lower Mainland.
Bilingual in English and Mandarin is an asset.
