About Us:



We are a dynamic company with two divisions: a leading roofing contractor and a sister company specializing in metal manufacturing. We are committed to achieving the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. We are seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to spearhead our efforts in obtaining and maintaining COR (Certificate of Recognition) and OIRCA (Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors Association) certification for both divisions.

Key Responsibilities:



-Safety Program Development:

Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive health and safety programs aligned with COR and OIRCA standards for both the roofing and metal manufacturing divisions.

-Training & Compliance:

Conduct regular training sessions on fall protection, WHMIS, Working at Heights, and other relevant safety protocols. Ensure all staff are up-to-date with certifications and safety practices.

-Audits & Inspections:

Lead internal and external safety audits. Prepare for and facilitate OIRCA safety evaluations and COR audits, ensuring all documentation meets the required standards.

-Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of safety meetings, training sessions, incident reports, and audit results. Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.

-Continuous Improvement:

Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance workplace safety.

HR Support:

Assist with HR duties, including onboarding, training coordination, and maintaining employee safety records.

-S134 Testing Preparation:

Collaborate with the metal manufacturing division to prepare for S134 testing, ensuring all safety protocols and documentation are in place.

-Qualifications:

Proven experience in a safety management role within the roofing or construction industry.

In-depth knowledge of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations, and industry-specific safety standards.

Experience in preparing for and achieving COR and OIRCA certification.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Certification in health and safety (e.g., CRSP, NCSO) is preferred.

Responsibilities



Manage the certification process from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards and regulations. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement testing protocols for new products. Conduct thorough reviews of blueprints and technical documents to ensure compliance with certification requirements. Supervise the certification team, providing guidance, training, and support as needed. Perform hands-on tasks such as caulking, heavy lifting, and using hand tools to assist in product testing and evaluation. Maintain accurate records of certifications, audits, and compliance documentation. Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and advancements in certification processes.

Qualifications



Proven experience in a managerial role within a certification or quality assurance environment. Strong skills in blueprint reading and understanding technical specifications. Proficiency with hand tools and experience in carpentry or maintenance person tasks is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments. A proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
