Habitat Manitoba has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Coordinator to join our team. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to building safe, decent and affordable homes for purchase by low-income working families.
Purpose:
Reporting to the Director, Construction, the Safety Coordinator works with all departments, including Staff, Volunteers, and Contractors, to ensure safety compliance is achieved and maintained. The Safety Coordinator ensures that safety policies and standards meet all legislative requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Act as the safety ambassador internally and externally.
Ensure regulatory compliance with local, provincial, and federal agencies.
Advise and coordinate the joint workplace Health and Safety committee.
Conduct on-site inspections and implement corrective actions.
Investigate accidents/incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain COR certification.
Ensure contractor safety compliance.
Provide safety orientation and training.
Manage the SiteDoc platform.
Assist with construction activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
NCSO or other recognized safety designation preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with SiteDocs is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt communication and training methods to different audiences.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Valid driver's license.
Familiarity with residential construction methods is an asset.
