Safety Coordinator

Job Description

At Tornado Infrastructure, safety isn't just a priority--it's part of who we are. We're proud to maintain a safe, compliant, and well-organized workplace in our fabrication facility. To support this, we're looking for an entry-level Safety Coordinator who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow in the safety profession.

Key Responsibilities



Safety Administration & Documentation

Maintain safety records, inspection forms, and toolbox talk logs. Track expiry dates for training, certifications, and licenses. Schedule training sessions, issue certificates, and send reminders for recertifications. Assist the Safety Manager in preparing documents for audits, reviews, and regulatory compliance. Keep safety bulletin boards updated with inspection results, safety stats, and committee materials.
Inspections & Compliance Support

Assist in monthly shop inspections by recording findings and entering data.*
Track corrective actions and follow up on completion.*
Support Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes, and handling follow-up tasks.*

Emergency Preparedness (Support Role)

Participate in emergency drills and support emergency planning activities. Ensure first aid kits and stations are stocked and documented. Serve as a frontline contact for psychosocial safety risks, including bullying and harassment

Qualifications



Education & Designation

Minimum High School diploma is required Safety-related coursework or certifications (e.g., WHMIS) are an asset. Current Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C (or willingness to obtain before starting) MHSA (Manufacturing Health and Safety Administrator) training is an asset Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry/Monitoring training are assets
Experience

1-2 years in an administrative, safety, or compliance support role Experience with data entry, filing, or recordkeeping is an asset Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
Certifications & Skills

Knowledge of Alberta OHS regulations and workplace safety practices Organized and detail-oriented with strong administrative skills Comfortable handling paperwork, scheduling, and data tracking Professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Team player who is eager to learn and contribute
Additional Requirements

Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract Legally eligible to work in Canada

Working Conditions



Work will be performed in both an office on the manufacturing floor, which can be noisy and dusty. The employee must provide CSA-approved safety footwear. All other Personal Protective Equipment will be provided. Consistent use of appropriate PPE is a requirement of this position.
