Job Description

SPR Traffic Services LP ("SPR") has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Coordinator to join our growing team. SPR specializes in a wide variety of construction and contracting services in addition to being a full-service traffic management provider, including vegetation control, site cleanup, parking lot maintenance, construction labour, asphalt crack sealing, and snow removal.

This is a full-time, salaried position based out of our office in Duke Point, BC, and you will report directly to the Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) Manager with daily interactions and responsibilities to the Managers of SPR Traffic Services.

There will be an expectation for significant work-related driving in this role.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License
• Diploma in a safety discipline (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety), or equivalent is preferred
• NCSO and/or CSO designation is seen as an asset
• Prior experience in a safety role is preferred
• Knowledge of BC Traffic Control Standards and certification in Traffic Control is seen as an asset
• Knowledge of federal, provincial and local safety and environmental laws and regulations
• Proven knowledge and understanding of safety metrics, terminology, presentations, documents, and reports
• Strong proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Vancouver Island and in all weather conditions.
• Ability to prepare safety reports and presentations to internal audiences
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
• Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work independently with a multitude of tasks
• Strong organizational, problem solving and administrative skills
• Learning agility and willing to continually learn and develop
• Strong attention to detail and work ethic
• Team player with a positive attitude

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Primary job duty is to coach, interview, inspect and audit field staff on the Safety Program
• Assists in the coordinate and booking of safety-related training programs
• Coordinates with Company administration, logistical requirements for training sessions
• Documents and files recommendations for IMS and Safety Program improvement measures
• Represent the Company on the RTW/SAW programs and communicate with the Injury Management Coordinator.
• Audits crews pre/post trip vehicle inspections & other daily safety paperwork
• Conduct formal hazard assessment with operational teams
• Performs general data entry, formatting and analysis
• Record meeting minutes
• Performs electronic filing in a timely manner

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$67,500.00 per year
