About the Opportunity




We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Safety Coordinator to support our safety management program across the organization. This role plays an essential part in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of our vessels, terminals, and supporting processes.


The Safety Coordinator will help drive a culture of safety excellence by supporting event reporting systems, facilitating corrective actions, assisting with audits, and contributing to ongoing digital transformation initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to make a measurable impact on real-time risk management and operational safety performance.


Key Responsibilities




Event Reporting Systems




Enter, process, and manage safety event data and corrective actions Support Process Owners in navigating and using the reporting system Monitor schedules, deadlines, and target dates Assist with safety data analytics and KPI development Organize and maintain records using SharePoint and Microsoft 365 tools

Management System Support




Assist in maintaining the effectiveness of the safety management system Work with Process Owners to align documents with corrective actions and audit findings Support the audit program, including scheduling, coordination, and records management Assist audit teams during vessel and terminal audits and visits Contribute to audit reports and follow-up action tracking Support environmental team reporting and environmental audit activities

Digital Platforms




Contribute to safety-related digital project plans and user support content Assist in configuring, testing, and deploying digital tools that improve safety workflows

General Administrative & Departmental Support




Support safety initiatives, learning fairs, exercises, and related events Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and track action items Maintain Safety Outlook inbox, departmental calendars, and distribution lists Assist team members in completing corrective actions Liaise with stakeholders involved in safety and security projects Participate in the company's Incident Command System for emergency response Support implementation of safety- and security-related contracts and resource libraries Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

What You Bring to the Team




Ability to balance day-to-day duties with a focus on the broader safety program Experience in administrative coordination, safety management, or marine/transport operations Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills High level of confidentiality, discretion, and attention to detail Strong communication skills and ability to support committees and working groups Post-secondary education or certification in health, safety, security, environment, or a related field Experience in data analysis, KPI tracking, and dashboard development Background in data governance or digital transformation is a strong asset

Working Conditions




Primarily office-based at one of our locations in Halifax, Charlottetown, or Saint John Visits to vessels, terminals, and other company facilities as required, including periodic overnight travel Occasional work outside normal business hours to address urgent system or platform needs
